I Am... Simply Jullie Anne

2019...here's to a new year, a new website, AND a new YouTube channel! I know it's been quite some time since I've been able to blog regularly, so I figure this is as good a time as any to reintroduce myself...I actually started blogging about seven years ago, as Mangoes & Palm Trees. It was my OG baby, and while I was in culinary school, that blog was my outlet. In the middle of well kept uniforms and classical French techniques, it was the creative oasis I craved. I mostly posted recipes inspired by my Filipino roots back then, with other Asian/Pacific Islander influences sprinkled in, and many of them were hearty comfort foods. Some of these creations were featured on sites like The Kitchn, Parade, The Chic Site by Rachel Hollis, and even Buzzfeed.

After a couple of years, I linked up with my best friend Chelsea, and the name became 'Simply Jullie & Chelsea.' Our goals were to eat and cook healthier (oh hey Whole30 days, I remember you...) and to travel more and try new things. It sparked a more personal shift in content, to include more restaurant reviews and highlighting our favorite brands. We collaborated with companies like Wanderer Bracelets, which are hand crafted in Bali and support sustainability, and California's own Cocoa Parlor, purveyor of organic artisan chocolates. It was a blast while we were going strong, and I learned so much! Eventually, though, the time came for us to focus on our individual paths. Chels is now in a new chapter in her life professionally and doing great things! I wish her all the best!!

And so, in a little bit of a full circle moment, I find myself blogging solo once again. This is me...Simply Jullie Anne. As a California girl who constantly hops between Sacramento and the Bay Area (sometimes beyond), I have the perfect playground for good eats and great adventures. My style and philosophy have evolved over time, but food and travel have always been my passion and will always be the heart and soul of my blogging story. I hope to share with you all the local gems, the restaurants with a story to tell and an emphasis on fun, fresh, and real food. I want you to travel along with me as I taste new things and discover new places. And this time around, I also want to share with you even more topics that I'm passionate about! Such as health & wellness, book recs, and current brands/products that I love! I also have a YouTube channel where I plan on posting vlogs!
